MPS were treated to an entertaining and fascinating evening with the talented Les Nixon.

There are not many photographers who can match Les’ library of images. With photos spanning nearly 70 years, and just about every photographic genre, it was impossible not to be inspired.

We lost count of how many times we circumnavigated the globe. From the Hope Valley to Monument Valley, from York Minster to the Taj Mahal, from Blackpool beach to the deserts of Peru, Les spoke about each with the same passion and enthusiasm. The talk was titled ‘Contrasts’ and it definitely lived up to its name.

Although Les has traveled the world, he put great emphasis on the fact you don’t have to go far to take great photos. It was clear, by the end of the talk, that dedication and a love for photography are what’s really required to capture great images, and Les has it in spades.
