 …you guessed it, another broad talk with wide appeal! There are the usual landscapes, wildlife, still life, events and transport (trains), plus Ill go into more depth about how I processed my images (Lightroom and Photoshop). This talk also includes examples of my first attempts at stereoscopic photographs (3D) and covers how to take and view them (I’ll bring some stereoscopes).
25/09/25 Phone Competition Mobile Phone Competition.  Our first competition of the year is open to all members; the only criteria is all photos must be taken on a mobile phone.  Your mobile phone is the camera you always have with you so have a look in your phones picture library for that winning image.  As with all our competitions the images will be judged be an independent judge in a positive way with constructive comments on how to improve the image.  Members can submit up to four images, further guidance on how to prepare images for comps will be given a couple of week before the competition.

 A print talk by a Derby based photographer. Roger takes us on a journey with his ‘World of Monochrome’. He finishes with his acclaimed Fine Art Architectural images and demonstrates his processing technique with some before and after images.

Costa Rica.

 Martin will combine images from both a photographic trip and a family holiday to show something of the wildlife and the countryside of one of the most biologically diverse countries on the planet. He will explain the photographic techniques he learnt and show how he has since used them in his local wildlife projects.

 Instruction on photo processing and how to create the fifth and final image for the Panel of Four.

Two sides of China.

 The talk will cover some well known tourist sites of China; The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, The Terracotta Warriors, etc. In addition, it will look at rural life in a small farming village and some street life in the cities.

Subjects Landscape & Wildlife.
Tom Tivey Club competition. This competition is named after our former Chairman Tom Tivey.  Tom was a groundbreaking wildlife and landscape photographer, and this competition is themed around these two subjects.  Members can submit up to three prints and three images for projection.

 My talk describes how I moved from straightforward black and white outdoor photography into fine art black and white architectural photography picking up ARPS along the way. I cover not just the techniques used, but also how I approach different subjects to put my own stamp on them. As well as some before and after images, I include some step by step examples and plenty of other images closer to home than you might imagine.

The Albanian Connection – A race from London to Tirana by public transport

 In August 2024, Ian was involved in a race from London to Albania, a journey of almost 2000 miles, which was undertaken almost entirely using public buses, trains and a ferry and which took him through some vastly varied landscapes. Illustrated using shots taken on an iPhone, he will tell the story of the race and then the long journey back through the Balkans.

Danny Green. The Art of Wildlife Photography.

 The Art of Wildlife Photography talk gives an in-depth knowledge of what it takes to be a wildlife photographer. Covering aspects like field craft, exposure, technique, and style and much more. The talk showcases some of Danny’s personal favourites  and so gives a great indication of why he shoots the way he does.
