Summer Is coming – Bring your Camera with you

As the summer approaches the normal Thursday night sessions are being replaced with some more practical sessions , which are intended to help your improve you camera skills and take some great pictures. These are the first sessions that are planned

Photographic Field Trip, Lumsdale, Matlock. Thursday 18th May

This is the first of our planned summer field trips. This will be visiting Lumsdale, just outside Matlock is about a 45 min drive away . Here the brook descends through a series of man made ponds, mills and large waterfalls, and gives you plenty of time to try different techniques learnt. Not only is there falling water, but there are ruined mills and open ponds. This is certainly one of the hidden gems of both industrial archaeology and photography that are available to us.

Ian Pettit will be coordinating the trip and both he and other members of the society will be there at assist with your images. Please let Ian know if you are planning to attend, so that we don’t miss anyone. The plan is to meet in Castle Square in Melbourne at  5pm, and car share where possible.

Full details of the valley will be found here

This is an example of some of the pictures that were taken earlier in the year in the valley.

Around the quays you will find the Lowry, the Imperial War Museum North and Media City, which make outstanding subjects.
