Melbourne Photographic Society member Steve Fairbrother received a ‘Highly Commended’ at the ‘British Wildlife Photography Awards’ held at the prestigious Mall Gallery in London last night, for his image ‘A Watchful Eye’ featuring a Shag and chick at the nest on the Farne Islands. A beautiful and very atmospheric picture. The good and the great were there (and me) at a cracking exhibition & award ceremony hosted by TV presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham. The overall winning image ‘Surfing Dolphin’ taken by George Karbus on the west coast of Ireland has been shown several times recently on TV. It can be seen at www.bwpawards.org, as can many others.
Steve is no stranger to award ceremonies and he has done very well in the past, his work is often featured in wildlife and photography magazines. It is good to have a photographer of his calibre in our society.
