Request for Volunteers for Melbourne Festival Exhibition 2013

A note from Gavin Lake.

I have agreed to organise the 2013 Melbourne Festival exhibition as Dave Bell is away. Ian Pettit has kindly offered to deputise for me should I have any urgent issues with work or family.

This note is to ask you as a member of the society to participate in this exciting event. The exhibition will take place in The Thomas Cook Memorial Hall on the High Street. We will set up the exhibition on Friday 13th September between 5pm and 6.30pm and the exhibition is open from 10.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday and 10.00am to 5pm on Sunday. We will have an exhibition of prints and a digital slide show on both days and we will be serving tea, coffee, squash and Lake’s Cakes.

I am looking for volunteers for the following:

  • To set up, dismantle and man the event ( man the entrance, circulate with visitors, serve refreshments, operate digital projector).
  • Provide up to six prints and ten digital images. ( Please could you submit work not previously shown at The Festival).

To submit work for sale and help man the sales stand.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could let me have digital images by Thursday 29th August. Could you please provide these on CD, Memory Stick or Compact Flash Card to me at Harpur’s of Melbourne ( formerly The Melbourne Hotel on Derby Road) between 8.30 and 10.00pm on 29th August. Digital files should be sized 1400 x 1050 pixels and prints to the size of your choosing to fit a metre square of display screen. Alternatively you can let me have these at my home address, which was on the email of the 22/08/13 to all members

Could you also let me know by 29th August if you are able to assist at the event and and which day (or days) and time (or times) you are available so I may produce a rota.

This has always been a really enjoyable event – a great opportunity for us to showcase our work and at the same time have a pleasant social occasion together and promote the society and encourage new members to join.

I do hope you can give your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Gavin
