Our Programme 2018 – 2019

We’ve an exciting and varied programme planned for the 2018/19 season. With a mix of practicals, competitions and guest speakers, plus a number of social events, there’s plenty to look forward to.

3rd Jan 2019 Thursday               19.30 – 22.00     Thomas Cook Memorial Hall The full monty Predominantly wildlife and landscape photography, but also including drone, aviation, macro and architectural images, this talk aims to have something for everybody. It also includes videos taken with a DSLR and drone. You’ll hear the stories beghind the images, what I was hoping to achieve and how I wwent about it. 31st Jan 2019 Thursday               19.30 – 22.00     Thomas Cook Memorial Hall ‘The Long & Short of it all’ I will be detailing my approach to Long Exposure Photography, including some processing techniques. This is not my only way of genre, so I will also be including and outlining my approach to my other work. Ian Mountford

20th Feb 2019 External Competition Ashby [Away] Our regular annual competition against near neighbours and colleagues at Ashby Photographic Society comes around again. We look forward to travelling to Ashby. Simon Pearce

21st Mar 2019 Thursday               19.30 – 22.00     Thomas Cook Memorial Hall My Photography – Fine Art or Creative Expression? Photography has struggled since its inception to be recognised as a fine art. To the uninitiated it has been deemed to be merely a reproductive medium in which the end product was clear. The input of the photographer as an artist was considered as simply a technician who “operated the medium” and, in that way, produced the photograph. With the advances made in Digital Imaging and manipulation –  can photographs now be construed as art? Jim Hartje
