Adobe are introducing a new approach to the future delivery of Photoshop along with thier other creative products . In future, releases beyond version 6, will be made available via cloud computing on a pay per month basis. From June, photographers will only be granted access to the latest version of Photoshop by paying a subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud, a membership-based service that allows users to download applications over the internet.
How this will impact existing users, has to be fully clarified, but it is thought that they should be able to continue to work with their present licence, but apart from maintenance releases, there will be no future upgrades without subscribing to the Cloud Service. Reports suggest that Lightroom 5 and Elements will continue to be available as standalone products.
